Seminar week 3

This weeks discussion we are suppose to say how we feel about being an online student. I like the flexibility, of the courses. The fact that I can get online at any time and do homework or start my next weeks assignment, the convience of not having to leave home or to drive to school, look for a parking space, all the things that take up time. I think once you get face to face with other people you start wanting to socialize to much and this for me is the best way to keep focused.

Being part of a larger writing community, gives us more critique. The more people you have looking at a project the more points of view you can get. I know I can not speak for everyone, so the more angles that are presented to me the better my ideas can become.

I also love this online education, it is proving to not only be challenging, but being able to sign on at any time of the day is the best. I had previously taken an American Sign Language class 5-6 years ago and although that was a class you really can't take online, I didn't like having to find parking, sitting with a bunch of kids, and having to listen to a teacher drone on and on about things that didn't interest me. I am enjoying reading everyones blogs and being able to be open and honest about things. I really enjoy reading your blogs and seeing you in seminar. You are awesome and going to go far.

  2. Ande,

There is a big misconception that online learning is easy or not as involved as traditional learning. I have found online school very demanding. I don't think the quality of education is any less than a traditional school. An online education is a different experience, yes, but in the end has the same result.

  3. Nikke, I agree that the outcome is basically the same. Also the fact that it is demanding, absolutely! but we can get here on our own time, with the exception of seminars. I only take 2 courses but I spend a lot of my time doing school work when I am not at work. I take this very seriously and have found in the past that going to an on-campus school distracts me way too much.

  4. You are brilliant Ande'! I think I just might start looking for classes I might take via computer in the safety of my home. My dear cousin, you are a motivator and a teacher. Thank you!!
